Folsom Joint Federal Project (JFP)

Youngdahl Consulting Group, Inc. performed Quality Assurance Services for the Folsom Joint Federal Project (JFP) at Folsom Dam in Folsom, California since 2007.

We were the USACE Quality Assurance (QA) Contractor for Phase III, construction of the Control Structure. The control structure contained six submerged tainter gates, which operate in conjunction with the existing spillway gates at Folsom Dam to manage flood flows from Folsom Reservoir. Our services were extended into providing Quality Assurance for the USACE for Phase IV of the project.

Our scope of work, as the QA Contractor was to sample and perform field and laboratory testing of the aggregates and concrete, and welding and bolting inspection of the gates. Our services included providing field support for inspection and field testing, laboratory support to man the on-site QA Laboratory, and supplementary testing services as required.

Sampling and testing was executed at the JFP project site in a USACE laboratory that was outfitted, supplied and manned by Youngdahl. We purchased all equipment, prepared a Laboratory Quality Assurance manual and obtained MTC validation for this on-site laboratory.
