Harris Center & Folsom Lake Community College

The 850-seat multi-purpose theater features a 46-foot proscenium, full stage house, orchestra pit and a backstage. Youngdahl provided all special inspection services including soils, concrete, masonry, fireproofing and structural steel welding in both the shop and field for this building as well as providing special inspection and materials testing services during construction of Buildings A, B and C at the Folsom Lake Campus.

The three structures were constructed of a combination of materials including diagonal steel bracing, structural steel members, metal stud framing, second floor decking and roof, and masonry wall construction. Each of the buildings have concrete slab-on-grade first floors. Appurtenant project construction includes asphalt concrete access drives and parking areas. We were involved in the following tasks:

Earthwork consultation, observation, and testing services were performed during site grading for the building pads, utility trench backfill, as well as subgrade, aggregate base, and asphalt concrete for the associated parking areas.
